St. Matthew's Pro-Life Ministry works to promote and defend the sanctity of all human life through prayer, education on pro-life issues and promotion of the Church’s teaching.  Working towards these goals, this group hosts presentation, and other activities.

Ours is a movement of love and, if it ever stops being that, it will cease to claim our commitment.  It is a movement of love for God, and of love for the neighbour whom others would exclude from the community of caring and concern.

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."
“The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
200 years ago, historian Alexander Fraser Tytler wrote that the average age of the world’s greatest  civilizations has been about 200 years.
These civilizations, he said, all progressed through this sequence:

from bondage to spiritual faith;
from spiritual faith to great courage;
from courage to liberty;
from liberty to abundance;
from abundance to selfishness;
from selfishness to complacency;
from complacency to apathy;
from apathy to dependence;
from dependence back into bondage.

“These words were written two years before George Washington became the US first President. There is so much truth in these words it makes me shudder, especially since we are clearly in stage 7. An honest appraisal of our country’s downward spiral is necessary to begin the process of redemption. We have continually voted ourselves increased benefits, dependent upon the printing presses of the Federal Reserve to sustain our country’s Ponzi scheme (A Ponzi scheme is a form of fraud which lures investors and pays profits to earlier investors by using funds obtained from newer investors). We have pawned our future and the bill will eventually come due.

I was fascinated with this because to me it seemed to explain what we are going through as a country right now, where people are more interested in how they can somehow soak the system to get their free ride, than building anything. Clearly we are on the left side of this cycle, somewhere in the selfishness, complacency, apathy or dependence side.
Where is Canada today? We now live in a Culture of DEATH! No Law protecting the unborn! Selling aborted baby parts! Doctor Assisted Suicide! SOGI in schools!

What’s hurting Canadians? When we know the answer to this, we can look at that area, and ask ourselves, “Is any principle of the supremacy of God and/or the rule of law—the foundations of this nation, according to our Constitution-being violated here?”  If it is, we have found the cause of our distress!  And now we know how to deal with that social problem.

Randall Terry once said, “The price of fighting evil will never be less than it is right now - the cost always goes up as we procrastinate.”
Our Ministry began with PRAYER to the Holy Spirit.

On January 28th, 2018 we received 400 pledges to pray daily for 9 months, the following prayer (by Arch. Fulton Sheen): Jesus, Mary, Joseph.  I love you very much.  I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.

We had a Baby Shower on Oct. 28th,after the 9 a.m. Pro-Life Mass/Vigil in the Jubilee Hall from 10 - 2 pm.  Many have sent in their baby photos that were put on coasters for all to enjoy. Knitters/Crocheters began in June to make baby items and these were on display on Oct. 6th as well as many donations have been received and most will be going to Pregnancy Options, who counsel women and help the baby up to 2 years of age.   Now that 2019 is fast approaching, we have much to be thankful for and are in great need of more knitters to make "Prayer Shawls" for the many people who are sick.  Anyone wishing to join us to knit/crochet or even to learn how, are welcome everyone Friday at 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the upper room at St. Matthew's beginning on Jan. 5th, 2019.  When a Prayer Shawl is given to someone, we keep post their names on our bulletin board and ask everyone to keep them in their prayers. Thanks to the many knitters/crocheters and even donations of supplies that we are able to give some comfort to those who are not well.
